In Indonesia, BlackBerry is (still) king. So vast is the Blackberry
smartphone population here, that the country has been known as the
“BlackBerry Nation”. One of the features found to be indispensable by its users is the BlackBerry Messenger. Yes, almost all kinds of people in Indonesia –from professionals, housewives,
to school children- rely on this popular instant-messaging application
to communicate with their colleagues, friends, or kids. Thus, it’s not a
surprise if many among us are delighted to see a new BlackBerry phone
released to the market. This time, Research in Motion (RIM) combines the
proven Bold style form factor with a sophisticated touch screen
technology for extended usability. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the
BlackBerry Bold 9790! For Bahasa Indonesia version of this article you

BlackBerry is not the only brand in today’s smartphone market.
Android phones are flooding into the fray, while the iPhone is getting
better and better. RIM refuses to be left behind. Some new BlackBerry
models have been released to refresh their lines of product, with the
most recent being the Bold 9790 we’re reviewing this time. In terms of
physical appearance, it is similar to its predecessors, the Bold 9700
and 9780, with the most notable differences being the shape of its phone
dial and menu buttons, and the bulging backside. Unlike the two Bolds
before it, however, you can also touch the multi-gesture screen to
navigate.
Bold 9790 is one of the most technologically-sophisticated
BlackBerries to date, thanks to its 1 GHz Marvell Tavor MG-1 processor
and 8 GB of storage space that
provides ample room for its user to store all kinds of data –including
videos, pictures, and music- without needing to add an external card. As
for the memory, Bold 9790 comes with 768 MB of RAM that should help
ensure smooth experience with its OS 7.0 interface.
Comparison with Previous Bolds
Two friends at the office happen to be using the Blackberry Bold 9700 (“Onyx”) and Blackberry Bold 9780 (“Delta”, but more commonly referred to “Onyx 2”). As such, we have the chance to compare both smartphones with the newest Bold, from physical appearance and dimensions viewpoints. You can observe the differences between the three phones in the pictures below. The new Bold 9790 (“Bellagio”) is sleeker and thinner compared to its two predecessors. It’s a bit taller than Onyx and Delta, but also lighter by a modest 14 grams in comparison to Onyx.
